At Cornerstone MCC, we offer a variety of programs and activities for Christian worship, fellowship, service, and education. There is also a place in ministry for you at Cornerstone, through one of our existing team ministries, or in the development of new ones as we grow together in faith and faithfulness. It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Rev Sara Sills
This Sunday we are embracing the beautiful truth about neighbors in Jesus’ parable about the Good Samaritan. I hope each of you has been reaching out to your friends and neighbors with an invitation to come and join us in worship at Cornerstone MCC this week. Sometimes, all a person needs is for someone to invite them. Be that person for someone this week! Let’s grow our church together by living our faith out loud!
Who’s My Neighbor?
On Sunday, July 14, we will be celebrating Who’s My Neighbor Sunday? Invitation cards are available in the What’s Next? Corner at the rear of the Sanctuary. Take a few and invite your friends and neighbors to join us for worship that day! This is how we are going to grow our church membership and it will only work if we do!
TRANSforming Ministry Workshop
TRANSforming Ministry Workshop will be on Sunday, July 21 after worship. Engaging dialogue about how we can be a more welcoming congregation to our trans siblings. RSVP to Pastor Sara please, so we can prepare lunch for the participants.
We are seeking a volunteer to take over our Cornerstone Cookbook Fundraiser. Anyone who is interested should speak with a member of the BOD.
Move The Bus
It’s time to move that bus again. Leinkauf Elementary is in need of school supplies for our future achievers. We will post a supply list (and pick-up date) as soon as it is available...should be in late July/early August.
We are also accepting uniform donations that will be delivered with the school supplies. Uniforms are Khaki pants and hunter green or white polos (sizes ranging from 4-15).
More details can be found in the What’s Next? Corner at the rear of the Sanctuary.
Our OASIS Gathering is taking a break through the summer months. We will resume our weekly gatherings in September.
Mobile Alabama Pride
MobPRIDE meeting will be Tuesday, July 9 at 6:30pm in the Freeman Fellowship House. Come out and offer your support for our PRIDE celebration! The PRIDE celebration has been postponed until Saturday, October 5 at Cooper Riverside Park from 12:00-7:00pm.
Mobile Alabama Pride is hosting a Transgender Workshop on Tuesday, July 16 at 6:30pm on the Cornerstone MCC campus.
Sacred Harp is a uniquely American tradition that brings communities together to sing four-part hymns and anthems, passed directly to us by generations of singers, many gone on before and still living. All events welcome beginners and newcomers, with no musical experience or religious affiliation - in fact, the tradition was born from colonial “singing schools” whose purpose was to teach beginners to sing and our methods continue to reflect this goal. Though Sacred Harp is not affiliated with any denomination, it is a deeply spiritual experience for all involved, and functions as a religious observance for many singers.
The best way to learn about Sacred Harp singing is to sing it yourself. We will meet Friday, July 26 at 6:30pm.
Pastor Sara will have office hours by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays 9:00am-3:00pm and on Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm.
Fellowship House Restoration
Help fund the restoration of our Fellowship House! Thanks to some wonderful people, CMCC has a Go Fund Me account (www.gofundme.com/fellowshiphouserestoration). We will be applying for grants. Many grant agencies require evidence that the applicant is trying to raise funds. Some require matching funds. Check out the site, donate, and share information on your Facebook and/or your Twitter account(s) so your friends can donate too. This link has already been posted to CMCC's Facebook and Twitter accounts for you to share.
A Drama Ministry creates joyful and new opportunities to express spirt and allows for a deeper emotional vesting in the church. It offers opportunities for all ages and creates lasting friendship while enhancing the word of God. Storytelling is the most powerful forms of communication God has given to us and drama is a highly potent way to tell a story. With the Drama Ministry Team, we will bring Scripture to life. Please contact Chris Willingham by email or 251.284.8272 for more information.
Help Cornerstone MCC by relieving some of your church's financial pressures. In addition to your usual giving consider paying one of our recurring bills. Some are yearly, some are quarterly and some are monthly. The monthly bills have been averaged over the past year. Currently there are fourteen bills, ten are monthly, one is quarterly, and three are yearly.
Place check or cash for the amount in an envelope, write name of bill on the outside and your name (if you wish to remain anonymous no name is necessary) and put in offering plate. Payment (cash or check) may also be mailed to: Cornerstone MCC, Attn: Adopt-a-Bill, 1007 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.
You may choose to pay a bill for one month, three months or the whole year...however you feel lead to use the financial gifts God has blessed you with.
If you have questions, need information or want to sign-up, see Sheilah or Carol. A list of bills and amounts are on the bulletin board in the foyer and in the Fellowship House.

Conflict Resolution Policy
A Conflict Resolution Policy was presented at the Board of Directors meeting. A motion was passed to rename it "Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution" and to recommend all members and friends print out a copy and review it. It will also be included in New Member packets. It is our hope that this document will remind us that conflicts will occur, and there are positive ways to deal with them as Christian brothers and sisters.
