Our Week Together In Christ....

At Cornerstone MCC, we offer a variety of programs and activities for Christian worship, fellowship, service, and education. There is also a place in ministry for you at Cornerstone, through one of our existing team ministries, or in the development of new ones as we grow together in faith and faithfulness. What Do You Do When the Wine Runs Out?

Rev Sara Sills

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and John 2:1-11.

I think one reason the Holy Spirit prompted John to include the story of Jesus turning water into wine is so that everyone can know that the spirituality Jesus taught was not drab and lifeless. This story is included to make sure we know that Jesus believed in community. He believed in festivity. He enjoyed a good party. And, by the way, this would later be a criticism made against Him by the Pharisees…that He had too much fun.

With all this in mind I want us to consider a very important question: Where do WE go when the “wine” runs out? Where do we go when we have a need we can’t meet on our own—a problem we can’t face by ourselves? You see, I believe this story underscores the fact that in these times we must go to Jesus…and this Sunday morning I want to emphasize that truth by answering this question: WHY? Why do we go to Jesus when “the wine runs out?”

Join us for worship and let's explore the greatness of our God together!

Live Broadcast System Upgrade

Kay Hedgepeth, Media Team Leader

The media team at Cornerstone is constantly searching for ways to improve the quality of excellence in the worship experience for all of our members and followers. We recently placed a new projector in the sanctuary to improve the in-house worship, but our live broadcast could also use some help. In order to give a more enjoyable, steady online viewing experience, we could use a better multi-camera system. I have been researching a more functional system and believe I have found what we need. The new system can carry multiple cameras.

Two cameras would run $467.46 ($233.73 each), while one camera would cost $287.52. These amounts do not include tax or shipping. If you would like to contribute to this ministry, you can do so by clicking on the "Donate Now" button on the left side of this page or bring your contribution to church when you come. Thank you in advance for your donations.

God's Guarantee

We are launching a new stewardship emphasis designed to change our outlook on giving. It is based on God's offer for us to test the promise given in Malachi 3:10 and is called "God's Guarantee".

Sacred Harp

Sacred Harp is a uniquely American tradition that brings communities together to sing four-part hymns and anthems, passed directly to us by generations of singers, many gone on before and still living. All events welcome beginners and newcomers, with no musical experience or religious affiliation - in fact, the tradition was born from colonial “singing schools” whose purpose was to teach beginners to sing and our methods continue to reflect this goal. Though Sacred Harp is not affiliated with any denomination, it is a deeply spiritual experience for all involved, and functions as a religious observance for many singers.

The best way to learn about Sacred Harp singing is to sing it yourself. We will meet Friday, January 25 at 6:00pm.

Sanctuary Needs Your Love

The Sanctuary needs your love. She needs to be cleaned. Please see Beverly Kendrick to volunteer for doing custodial duties inside the Sanctuary. She has graciously agreed to lead this effort but is seeking help.

Office Hours

Pastor Sara will have office hours by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays 9:00am-3:00pm and on Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm.

Fellowship House Restoration

Help fund the restoration of our Fellowship House! Thanks to some wonderful people, CMCC has a Go Fund Me account (www.gofundme.com/restorefellowshiphouse). After the first of the year we will be applying for grants. Many grant agencies require evidence that the applicant is trying to raise funds. Some require matching funds. Check out the site, donate, and share information on your Facebook and/or your Twitter account(s) so your friends can donate too. This link has already been posted to CMCC's Facebook and Twitter accounts for you to share.

Drama Ministry

A Drama Ministry creates joyful and new opportunities to express spirt and allows for a deeper emotional vesting in the church. It offers opportunities for all ages and creates lasting friendship while enhancing the word of God. Storytelling is the most powerful forms of communication God has given to us and drama is a highly potent way to tell a story. With the Drama Ministry Team, we will bring Scripture to life. Please contact Chris Willingham by email or 251.284.8272 for more information.

Adopt-a-Bill

Help Cornerstone MCC by relieving some of your church's financial pressures. In addition to your usual giving consider paying one of our recurring bills. Some are yearly, some are quarterly and some are monthly. The monthly bills have been averaged over the past year. Currently there are fourteen bills, ten are monthly, one is quarterly, and three are yearly.

Place check or cash for the amount in an envelope, write name of bill on the outside and your name (if you wish to remain anonymous no name is necessary) and put in offering plate. Payment (cash or check) may also be mailed to: Cornerstone MCC, Attn: Adopt-a-Bill, 1007 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.

You may choose to pay a bill for one month, three months or the whole year...however you feel lead to use the financial gifts God has blessed you with.

If you have questions, need information or want to sign-up, see Sheilah or Carol. A list of bills and amounts are on the bulletin board in the foyer and in the Fellowship House.

Conflict Resolution Policy

A Conflict Resolution Policy was presented at the Board of Directors meeting. A motion was passed to rename it "Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution" and to recommend all members and friends print out a copy and review it. It will also be included in New Member packets. It is our hope that this document will remind us that conflicts will occur, and there are positive ways to deal with them as Christian brothers and sisters.

Click here for your copy of Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution.
