At Cornerstone MCC, we offer a variety of programs and activities for Christian worship, fellowship, service, and education. There is also a place in ministry for you at Cornerstone, through one of our existing team ministries, or in the development of new ones as we grow together in faith and faithfulness. There's a place for everyone to share in God's Word. You Belong At Cornerstone!

Rev Ruth Jensen-Forbell
Have you ever felt left out? Are there people in your life that you need to forgive? Do you need to ask someone to forgive you?
If the answer to any of these questions is 'yes', then words are needed. Communication is needed. In fact communication with one another is necessary!
On Sunday I want to explore what scripture tells us - what Jesus tells us - about forgiveness and about how listening to one another can help us see things differently. Please join me on Sunday at 10:45am!
A membership class has been scheduled by Pastor Ruth for Saturday, August 19, from 10:00am-2:00pm. Lunch will be provided. This class is for anyone who might want more information about Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) in general and Cornerstone MCC church specifically. Attending does not require you to join, but it is required for anyone who wants to become a member or reactivate their membership. If you are interested in the Membership Class, please call and leave your name and phone number at the church office (251-438-7080) no later than Thursday evening.
Cornerstone Rummage Sale Fundraiser – August 19 (Saturday)!!!
Our Rummage Sale is now at the Home Stretch! Bring your donations and invite others to bring their donations to make our fundraiser a big success. Our goal is to help fund the repair of our Fellowship House (beginning with the roof) and save it from progressive decline and decay.
So let’s make it a priority to clean out that closet, clean up that garage or carport, gather those DVD’s no longer to be watched, and collect other things we no longer use. Print out our Cornerstone Tax Donation Form (click here) for yourself or others. Forms are also available at church where they are signed when donations are received. To be successful, we need a lot more items! We have gray plastic containers for smaller items, and we will be able to pick up larger items for you by calling the church office (251-438-7080) no later than Thursday evening and leaving a message. There will be someone physically present at church on Thursday afternoon (1:00pm-6:00pm) to receive your donations! Also, you may know or work with businesses that can donate items as tax deductible contributions!
Specific Rummage Sale Details: Sale will be Saturday only from 7:00am-2:00pm. Cash only will be accepted. ATMs are just blocks away. Most items will be inside Fellowship House and a few on the porch for the sale (weather is too unpredictable to be outside). If you can help with organizing and positioning items for display, please join us August 17 & 18 (Thurs & Fri) afternoons beginning at 1:00pm. Finally we will need help Saturday beginning at 6:30am to help direct parking, helping in each room, assisting with bagging or boxing of items, collecting money, etc. If you can come later (10:00am-11:00am) and relieve already fatigued workers, that would be welcomed as well!
Hospitality after Church in the Fellowship House suspended until Rummage Sale is over!
With the items we have already received, it is apparent that tables and serving areas are now becoming a home for donated items. So please forgive us for this inconvenience. We can continue our fellowship at the back of the sanctuary after our worship service on Sunday.
Two Saturdays of each month, Pastor Ruth will have office hours from 9:00am to 4:00pm by appointment only. To make an appointment, please use her contact form on our web site or contact Ron Allison for a specific appointment time. She will be available on:
- Aug 19
- Sep 16
- Sep 23
- Oct 14
- Oct 21
- Nov 11
- Nov 18
“Helping Hands” Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon
If you are one of those folks who are fortunate enough to be free on Tuesday morning (9:00am-12:00pm) and/or Thursday afternoon (1:00pm-5:00pm), we could use your help. A small group of us enjoy the fellowship of working together, doing a variety of clerical jobs, cleaning out areas of the church, and now receiving items for our Rummage Sale in 2 weeks!
SHOES for the HOMELESS!
In the process of gathering items for our Rummage Sale, please look for any shoes (men or women) for the homeless. A great need was impressively appreciated by Heidi Robinson, our Outreach Team Leader! So any shoes, even those that are well worn, may be acceptable. A special box for shoes will be available in the church foyer. The need for shoes by the homeless is great when it gets cold! The plan is to make the donations in October.
EXCEL EXTRAVAGANZA – August 19
A FUN fundraiser evening has been planned for Saturday, August 19, in Pensacola, FL to provide support for “Excel of the Sand Dollar”, an inspiring weekend of Christian Community Living scheduled for October 6-8. The evening (5:30pm-8:30pm) includes dinner ($10 suggested donation), a drawdown ($10 per chance), and silent auction. It will be held in the Bayview Park Auditorium. For tickets, see Sharon Seawright at church or call the church office at 251-438-7080 and leave your request.
Conflict Resolution Policy
After two Wonderful Wednesday sessions, a Conflict Resolution Policy was presented at the Board of Directors meeting on April 30. A motion was passed to rename it "Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution" and to recommend all members and friends print out a copy and review it. It will also be included in New Member packets. It is our hope that this document will remind us that conflicts will occur, and there are positive ways to deal with them as Christian brothers and sisters.
