Our Week Together In Christ....

At Cornerstone MCC, we offer a variety of programs and activities for Christian worship, fellowship, service, and education. There is also a place in ministry for you at Cornerstone, through one of our existing team ministries, or in the development of new ones as we grow together in faith and faithfulness. There's a place for everyone to share in God's Word. You Belong At Cornerstone!

Project Runway Role Models

Rev Sara Sills

Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 and Matthew 5:13-16.

Someone once said: “Everybody’s an example. Some are good…and some are bad”. We are surrounded by both kinds in our daily lives. We have to practice discernment so that we don't allow ourselves to be influenced by the bad role models we see in the world of the rich and famous. Most of them readily admit that they don't want to be considered role models because of the pressure that places on them. They want the freedom to behave any way they want without the responsibility of knowing they influence others to misbehave.

You and I may not realize it, but we are also role models! As followers of Christ, we have been set aside and called out to be role models in our daily lives. So we need to always be mindful that every day we are being seen and heard by people who may not have a strong relationship with God. We need to always check ourselves and remember that we are Children of God and adjust our behavior accordingly.

Join us this week for worship when we will be talking about living as examples of Christ's love in our world.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Join us on Wednesday, November 20 as Cornerstone MCC and MobPRIDE honor the Transgender Day of Remembrance with a concert featuring our own Marionna. The concert will begin at 6:00pm and will be held in the Sanctuary. It will be broadcast on our Facebook page for those who are unable to attend.

Worship Team

Our Worship Team is in need of silver Christmas ornaments for our Sanctuary Christmas tree. Please bring your donation by Sunday, November 24. Ornaments of all sizes and styles will be gladly received.

Our OASIS Gathering for adult Christian education will begin a four-week Advent study called Unwrap the Wonder on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:00pm. Bring a brown bag supper and join us.

Media Ministry Team

Our Media Ministry Team is taking orders for long-sleeved t-shirts as their Building What Matters fundraiser. The design is on the bulletin board in the What’s Next? Corner of the Sanctuary. See Kay to order your shirt.

Thanksgiving Feast

Everyone is invited to join us for our annual Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 28. A sign-up sheet is being passed around during worship services so you can let us know what side dish or dessert you will be bringing. A generous donor is providing turkeys and hams. Lunch will be served at Noon on Thanksgiving Day!

Building What Matters!

Our Building What Matters campaign is intended to pay down the principal balance on our mortgage by $15,000 by February 29. This will free up funding for building renovations and ministry efforts. To date, we have had $6755 donated and another $1875 pledged. There is a giving level for everyone! Together, we can make it happen!

Giving Tree

Please take a few minutes to check out our Giving Tree in the What’s Next? Corner of the Sanctuary. On it you will find ornaments with items we commonly use around the campus. Please take an ornament or two and bring the items back to church with you. This helps us to keep costs down throughout the year.

Board of Directors

We are pleased to announce that our Annual Congregational Meeting was well attended and the business of the church was completed with a spirit of unity. We elected Patricia Hamilton and Freddie Miller to serve on the Board of Directors and Tony Tatum was elected to serve as our Lay Delegate. In addition, we approved our budget for 2020. We are poised to move boldly into our future in ministry here at Cornerstone MCC!

Cornerstone Mailbox

The Cornerstone Mailbox is located in the rear of the Sanctuary. Please use it to share cards and letters with other church members. Drop the “postage” cost in the offering plate! Be sure to check for mail left for you every week after worship service.

Office Hours

Pastor Sara will have office hours by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays 9:00am-3:00pm and on Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm.

Fellowship House Restoration

Help fund the restoration of our Fellowship House! Thanks to some wonderful people, CMCC has a Go Fund Me account ( We will be applying for grants. Many grant agencies require evidence that the applicant is trying to raise funds. Some require matching funds. Help Cornerstone MCC by relieving some of your church's financial pressures. In addition to your usual giving consider paying one of our recurring bills. Some are yearly, some are quarterly and some are monthly. The monthly bills have been averaged over the past year. Currently there are fourteen bills, ten are monthly, one is quarterly, and three are yearly.

Place check or cash for the amount in an envelope, write name of bill on the outside and your name (if you wish to remain anonymous no name is necessary) and put in offering plate. Payment (cash or check) may also be mailed to: Cornerstone MCC, Attn: Adopt-a-Bill, 1007 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.

You may choose to pay a bill for one month, three months or the whole year...however you feel lead to use the financial gifts God has blessed you with.

If you have questions, need information or want to sign-up, see Sheilah or Carol. A list of bills and amounts are on the bulletin board in the foyer and in the Fellowship House.

Conflict Resolution Policy

A Conflict Resolution Policy was presented at the Board of Directors meeting. A motion was passed to rename it "Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution" and to recommend all members and friends print out a copy and review it. It will also be included in New Member packets. It is our hope that this document will remind us that conflicts will occur, and there are positive ways to deal with them as Christian brothers and sisters.
