Our Week Together In Christ....

At Cornerstone MCC, we offer a variety of programs and activities for Christian worship, fellowship, service, and education. There is also a place in ministry for you at Cornerstone, through one of our existing team ministries, or in the development of new ones as we grow together in faith and faithfulness. There's a place for everyone to share in God's Word. You Belong At Cornerstone!

Fighting Words

Rev Sara Sills

Scripture: Luke 12:49-56.

Jesus didn't come to validate human institutions and the values those institutions promote. Jesus came to set into motion God’s radical will for the world. You and I are standing at a crossroad. We can choose to live our lives as if everything is just business as usual. Or, we can choose to follow Jesus' example and bring the Kindom of God into our lives and the world in which we live. Join us on Sunday for a few FIGHTING WORDS.

Wednesday Discussion Group

We will begin a new Wednesday Discussion Group on Wednesday, August 17. We will enjoy a light meal beginning at 6:00pm and start our discussion session at 6:30pm. The eight-week topic will be "How To Build a Sticky Church"! Join us and let's learn how to grow stronger together!

Community Outreach Ministry

Our Community Outreach Ministry is beginning a mission to Pack the Pantry. This is intended to stock up on non-perishable grocery items that can be distributed to those in need. We are asking everyone to bring a couple of items to church on the last Sunday of each month. That will be Sunday, August 28 this month.

Excel of the Sand Dollar

  • Excel Extravaganza Dinner/Silent Auction is a fundraiser for the Excel of the Sand Dollar. Tickets are available from Heidi, Andrea and Jim. The event will be held at The Wright Place on Saturday, August 13.
  • Excel of the Sand Dollar is an experience in Christian living that will occur the weekend of November 3-5 at Camp Beckwith. Registration forms are available at the church.

Live Worship Update

Please note the following guidelines that we implemented. With the current increase in transmission rates of COVID in Mobile County, I believe it is wise for us to implement a few precautions again. It is important that we understand that there are many among us who are immune compromised. The safety of ALL is our aim.

If you are not feeling well we ask that you stay at home and join us online for our services.

These will be lifted as soon as we return to a lower rate of transmission.

  • The wearing of masks is highly encouraged, but not mandatory. Masks will be available at both entrances to the Sanctuary.
  • We will be offering Communion through the use of individually wrapped sets or another self-serve option.
  • Please be mindful of distancing yourselves from other family groups when selecting your seat.
  • Our time of Passing the Peace will be done from where we are seated.

I know how much these intimacies enhance our worship experiences, but I would rather curtail them for a short while than to risk passing on the virus to anyone.

Our guidelines are based on the latest scientific knowledge and recommendations. Your cooperation is absolutely necessary in order for us to be successful in that attempt.

We will continue to closely monitor the evolution of this pandemic and will keep you up to date on our response to it.

Sanctuary Cleaning Crews

We are looking for a few people to work together one Saturday a month to keep our Sanctuary clean and ready for Sunday worship. We will provide the cleaning products and tools. But we need people to do the labor. Contact Pastor Sara by clicking her name if you have a team willing to take a weekend.

Freeman House Renovation Project

Anyone who would like to "adopt a room" in the Freeman Fellowship House should speak with Calvin Yamin. He is the project coordinator for the renovations being done in the house. We are refurbishing the house on a "pay as you go" plan so every gift matters.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry of Cornerstone MCC is proud to announce it is opening back up for more singers and musicians! Practice is held on Sunday mornings, with an occasional mid-week practice (for special occasions, soloists, etc.). Please note, practice is mandatory! If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, please contact Waylon.

Congregational Care Ministry Team

Our Congregational Care Team is looking for people who are available during business hours Monday through Friday to drive individuals to doctor appointments. If you can help, please contact Pastor Sara.

Cornerstone Mailbox

The Cornerstone Mailbox is located in the rear of the Sanctuary. Please use it to share cards and letters with other church members. Drop the “postage” cost in the offering plate! Be sure to check for mail left for you every week after worship service.

Office Hours

Pastor Sara will have office hours by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am-3:00pm and on Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm.

Help Cornerstone MCC by relieving some of your church's financial pressures. In addition to your usual giving consider paying one of our recurring bills. Some are yearly, some are quarterly and some are monthly. The monthly bills have been averaged over the past year. Currently there are fourteen bills, ten are monthly, one is quarterly, and three are yearly.

Place check or cash for the amount in an envelope, write name of bill on the outside and your name (if you wish to remain anonymous no name is necessary) and put in offering plate. Payment (cash or check) may also be mailed to: Cornerstone MCC, Attn: Adopt-a-Bill, 1007 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.

You may choose to pay a bill for one month, three months or the whole year...however you feel lead to use the financial gifts God has blessed you with.

If you have questions, need information or want to sign-up, contact us through the Church's contact form

Conflict Resolution Policy

A Conflict Resolution Policy was presented at the Board of Directors meeting. A motion was passed to rename it "Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution" and to recommend all members and friends print out a copy and review it. It will also be included in New Member packets. It is our hope that this document will remind us that conflicts will occur, and there are positive ways to deal with them as Christian brothers and sisters.

Click here for your copy of Cornerstone Guidelines for Conflict Resolution.

If you have talents or expertise in media services (audio-visual) or secretarial service (taking and transcribing board meeting minutes), please contact us in person on Sunday, through the church phone (251-438-7080) or the Church's contact form.
